When I first started messing around with retexturing hair, I really wished I had a decent texture to use. After a lot of mucking around, I give you these:

A blend of Pooklet's V3 hair textures and NuiTR's textures (heavily edited by me). They come in 9 of Pooklets naturals (FlashPowder, DepthCharge, SafetyFuse, Incendiary, Volatile, Explosion, Molotov, Pyrotechnic and MailBomb) and all of her unnaturals.

With a little more tweeking, I've fixed up a set in more Maxis Match colours. They are a blend of Pooklet's naturals, blonde with a slight contrast change.

All textures are 512x512 and are in PNG format, in case anyone was wondering.

Download textures:
Pook'd | Maxis Match

Credit goes to Pooklet for the colours/textures, quinctia for the PSP scripts and NuiTR for the original texture.

You completely read my mind didn't you? So many hairs are about to be defuglified and the part I hate you already did. :D

The first one has been edited slightly. Contrast and blurred, if I remember correctly. The BS shots are pretty close to what they will look like in game. :)

Re: tutorials
You can try this one that I used when I first retextured hairs. Even if you don't use Photoshop, the basic ideas in the tutorial apply in other programs, like GIMP.

These are really beautiful! I really shouldn't play around with them yet, I still have to finish that dress project, but I know just what I'll do with this after that. Thank you for putting in so much hard work on these!

Thank you, and you're very, very welcome! :D

How is the dress going? I'm very much looking forward to seeing the finished product. :)

The dress is a mixed bag. I've pulled the patterns I wanted and managed to put them on the corset and lower dress, but trippytexan suggested I make a companion set that had the plaid on the bust and the upper skirt level, and I'm having trouble making that one because I've been trying to overlay the ruffle pattern from the original over it, and I can't seem to get it so the ruffles are distinct without the color going crazy.

Once I get a little farther I'll probably come crying to you asking how to make pretty little preview pictures.
Jan. 13th, 2011 11:24 am (UTC)
Hmmm, have you tried using multiple layers at very low opacity levels for the ruffling? Maybe the original image, the new texture over the top, then a very low opacity layer of the original image to keep some of the detail, but still showing the new texture. Even adding another layer of the new texture at low opacity until it balances out?

I just tried to re-read my blabbering, I hope it makes sense. :P I've come across so many issues with layering, and that method seems to work some of the time. The other times I just flip the project the bird and try something else. :3

Any help you want, ask away! :)

Yes, your "blabbering" makes perfect sense, because that's the approach I've been trying. I may just have to up the contrast and lower the brightness more severely than I've been doing, or it may just be beyond me. Either way, I'm hoping to have the non-ruffle ones ready soon.

I love these textures and I've retextured several hairs with them already - I'm allowed to release those hairs that I've retextured, right? If I'm not, just notify me, and I'll just remove the hairs I have on my LJ.
On a different note, I friended you to keep up with your updates - I hope you don't mind?
Mar. 5th, 2011 09:17 pm (UTC)
Of course you're allowed! I made these for anyone to use and abuse, and I would love to see what you've used them for. :D

I don't mind at all. As soon as I sign in you'll be friended back. :)

Thanks for making/sharing your textures! I've retextured two hairs with them...Nouk's Charming hair and Cazy's Aphrodite. The Nouk retexture is already up on MTS and the Cazy retexture is waiting to be approved on MTS. Your textures made them look so beautiful!!!
